Artist’s Statement

I am fascinated by the powerful ability a painting has to communicate.  A work of art effectively put together creates a bond between the artist, the work and the viewer.  The physical presence of a painting, in terms of its subject matter, medium and scale can produce physical, emotional and spiritual constituents that will impact the viewer, and the viewer’s response is then an acknowledgement of the artist’s intent, emotion, even history.  Paintings are powerful because the artist’s experiences, decision making, intent, corrections and time spent in creating the work are embedded in the piece, and when conveyed to the viewer, it becomes an essential part to the human experience.
